Hair color

Can we choose whatever color we want?

Wrong. The choice of the hair color has to be done according to your natural Hair color. If the hair coloration is lighter for more than 5 tones one simple coloring won’t be enough to achieve the results   we want. We would need to do a bleaching remover and then the coloration.

Does the hair coloring damage the hair?

Right and wrong. You hair stylist should always proceed to do a hair diagnostic about the nature of your hair and the condition to offer you the color that will be the most adaptive to your case. A color that is going to be realized in the same tone of your natural hair or just to add a reflection or just going to be two toned lighting will not damage the hair. Because today also the new product formulation, they add oil inside and always treatment inside the color by itself. The coloration makes the hair more sensitive as soon as you in a lightning technique. If it’s true that the hair even when it is natural needs treatment as soon as you start to manipulate the follicles of the hair in an important way the treatment is necessary, otherwise you lose the shine that you expect from your hair coloring. And then, you don’t get the reflection that you were looking for.

Is it important to use specific treatment for hair color?

Right. The color of the hair needs a close protection. Colored hair is more sensitive to aggression because it is fragile because of the action of the color product that opens the cuticle that we need to open for the  pigment of the color. The shampoo and treatment specific for color treated hair fill up and close the cuticle of the hair and by this it protects durability for a long time the shine and vibrancy of the color reflection.

Never color your hair before going under the sun?

Wrong. If in reasonable dose the sun is not bad for the hair, on the contrary it gives a natural reflect and helps with the vitamin D synthesis it makes hair grow fast. When you use too much sun then the sun can become your hairs enemy in that case you need to protect your hair the same way you protect your skin by using hair solar product . This will avoid that you have to cut your hair at the return of your vacation. On colored hair your hair is already more sensitive by the coloration ingredient and the damage of the sun if you don’t do anything it will be an increase. This is one more reason to do something before and after you go into the sun. What is very important is to rinse your hair after you swim systematically with regular water, dry your hair as much as possible with the towel and apply right after a sun protection on your hair. When the sun is very strong you should wear a hat that is going to also protect your color and your scalp against sunburn.

Is it important to change your eyebrow color and make-up for good results with your color?

Right and wrong. Everything depends in the difference between your natural color and the hair color you will hair after hair coloring. If it is a light difference just a few tones you do not need to dye your eyebrows, on the contrary if the change is important you need to adapt your eyebrow or with waxing to make your eyebrow thinner or with the coloration.  Also this theory has to be case by case. It is important also to reflect your makeup for more harmony to match with your hair coloring style.

Keep it basic
Black works best for this look, as it’s the most dramatic and delivers the biggest impact. We recommend you stick with black, but if you want to branch out from there, try a stark white liquid liner. More colorful eyeliner pencils can look very punk rock, so aren’t necessarily the best way to pull off this trend.

While eyeliner always requires a steady hand, you really need one when applying a thick coating. Otherwise, you come off like a kid playing with her mom’s makeup. Keeping your hand steady, apply eyeliner very close to the lash line. Connect the inside and outside corners to make the look appear seamless.

If you want even more of an impact, you can extend the outward edges for a Cleopatra-style bold eye. Or you can use a kohl pencil to draw big, elaborate edges that slope toward your brows. There are tons of pics online of bold eyeliner in runway shows, so you can get inspiration once you’ve mastered the basic application.

Love it and own it to really make this look come alive. It’s bold and definitely out there, so project your own confidence when wearing it.

Finger Wave How-To

Part One: The Three-Step, Basic Pin-Curl Technique

This is the essential technique used to create pin curls, which will give you a full head of finger waves. Learn this core set of steps, and then continue to part two to set your whole ‘do.

1: Grab a 1-inch section of hair and spray lightly with hairspray.

2: Wrap the strand around your curling iron starting from the root all the way to the tip. Hold for about 7 seconds (a little longer for coarse hair, a little shorter for finer hair).

3: Release hair from the curling iron. Starting from the tip, wrap the strand around two fingers until the curl is near the scalp. Secure with a clip or pin. Place the clip at the base of the curl, right against the scalp, rather than on the outer edge of the pin curl. This helps prevent creases where you don’t want them. Leave pin curls to set.

once you’ve mastered this set of moves, you have all the technique necessary to make the best finger wave ‘do! Now let’s get started!

Part Two: Sectioning and Setting the Full Head

1: Start with dry hair. If your hair is fine, prep with dry shampoo or mousse, especially around the roots.

2: Section hair horizontally, starting at the bottom and working your way to the top and moving from back to front. How many sections you ultimately use depends on the thickness of the hair. Leave one semi-circular section at the crown of the head—you can clip it out of the way until later.

3: Starting with the bottom section, take a strand of hair and curl using the techniques above (spray, curl, pin). Work across the head until all the hair in that section is in curls. Once complete, move to the next section of hair, working your way across, creating curls as you go. Move toward the front of the head until all hair is pinned. For the pieces that frame the face, wrap hair outward, away from the face when curling.

4: Once you reach the top section that you clipped out of the way earlier, divide horizontally into pieces that are roughly 1-inch thick. Pin-curl each piece from front to back, to help create volume at the crown. Continue until you’ve curled and clipped the entire section.

5: Once all of your hair is up in pin curls, hit the entire head with hairspray.

6: Then, starting at the back of the head, take curls down section by section. At this point, you can apply a few dabs of shine spray or serum to add polish. As you work, rake through curls lightly with your fingers, spritz with hairspray, and go over gently with a flat paddle brush. For volume, back-comb each section at the roots.

7: When all of your hair is out, back-comb the crown, and finish with a final pass of hairspray.

French Balayage in Avant Garde Salon and Spa, Miami, Fl.

What is Balayage?

The Balayage is a French technique of coloring the hair created to give dimension and depth to the hair,

strands of hair strategically distributed create depth, dimension and enhance light and movement of the hair.
strands of hair strategically distributed create depth, dimension and enhance light and movement of the hair.

What does the word Balayage mean?

The word Balayage in French means brushwork and thus is referred to this technique as it works the strand of hair while suspended and supported on a pallet wick, then the enlightener is deposited on the hair with a slip of the brush.

What is the effect created in the Balayage hair?

Contrasting with the wicks processed with aluminum foil, the balayage does  not have a repetitive  pattern or defined lines, so it is advisable when looking to give dimension, depth and a natural sunny effect in which the wicks are blurred by merging with the base color.

What is the level of maintenance that the Balayage requires?

The Balayage is a technique with a relatively low maintenance, whereas leaves no barrier between the processed hair and new growth, it is today one of the most convenient color options for women as it is not necessary to do a touch-up at six weeks but can be extended to eight or more and also play with a shampoo color between process and process to revive them and make them look fresh again.

Balayage is recommended for all hair types?

The balayage always looks better in natural and long hair, because the hair takes more transparency when processed, due to the absence of a previous artificial pigment  the movement can create a large beach style and relaxed waves. Anyway, having a pre-existing color is not always a determining factor, it can also achieve very good results in hair that has been colored professionally no darker than a level five.

Is it compatible with other Balayage coloring techniques?

Given the characteristics of the effect that the Balayage creates on the hair, it is ideal for balancing a process of ” Ombre ” because it helps distribute the brightness in areas such as the face frame and the crown, that otherwise would not be  possible to do so only with the technique of ” Ombre ” as it only works on the bottom of the hair.  If we pay attention, at present, most of the top models and celebrities such as Gisele Bundchen and Jessica Biel are the image of a beautiful trend that is here to stay.

Maintaining your hair extensions !

Recommendations for maintaining your Keratin Hair Extensions by stylist Edward from Avant-Garde Salon and Spa Miami

Do you have extensions? Well here are a few tips to maintain the longest lasting extensions.

Daily Care

Brush hair from scalp to ends at least 2 times a day, once in the morning or before washing and once in the evening before bed.

Washing your hair

Do not shampoo your hair for at least 48 hours after your extensions have been applied to allow the bond to set. Shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would, but try to avoid using too much conditioner at the bonding points. Cold water is key. Avoid warm/hot water.

Do not comb between the scalp and the bond. On a regular basis, separate the bonds with your fingers to prevent matting

Drying your hair

Always dry your hair thoroughly, starting at the bond, as it is at its most vulnerable when wet

Do not towel dry the hair with a scrubbing motion. Instead, use a blotting motion and wrap the hair in a towel to remove excess moisture

Always blow dry your hair on a cool/warm temperature

Brushing

Great Lengths flat headed, soft bristle brushes are the most suitable for brushing your hair. With small sections of hair gently brush from the bonds to the ends of the hair

Styling and finishing

Styling products such as Pearl Gloss Styler can only be applied to the lengths and ends of your hair and not the bond itself

The Great Lengths round brush can be used for blow drying

Straighteners, tongs and heated rollers can be used; however they must be kept away from the bond area

Sleeping

We recommend you tie your hair in a loose pony tail or braid to prevent tangling while sleeping

Exercise and your lifestyle

Extensions suit most lifestyles, however be mindful in the following circumstances which may affect the lifespan of your bonds, or in fact, cause them to breakdown:

Regular swimming, particularly in sea water and chlorinated water

Regular sauna or steam room use

Excessive aerobic activity
